About Us
Two Cute Cookies was inspired by a very special family tradition and expanded by the founders, Catherine and Monica MacGillivray, identical twins and graduates in animation from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.
The cookie decorating tradition began with our great-grandmother, was gifted to our mother, who in turn gifted it to us. The cutters were ‘Aunt Chick’ red plastic cutters in various holiday designs; the recipe is a family secret.
In Mom’s day, the feature design of the Christmas season was a Santa created by our Uncle Joe depicting the political climate of the era. Our designs began when we, as toddlers, piled so much sugar and decorative sprinkles on each cookie that the design was unrecognizable. The designs evolved each year paralleling our art and animation training and now have a whole new dimension.
Our cookies have personality; perfection and acute attention to detail are our trademarks. We have hundreds of copper cookie cutters that serve as a template for some designs, we make our own cutters for custom designs and for our most unique and personal designs we cut each shape by hand. We hand roll our dough and decorate entirely by hand so each of our cookies is one-of-a-kind.
As college students on a limited budget, we started making cookies as gifts for professors, family and friends and the response was always the same… ‘These are two cute to eat!’
… Very soon we found ourselves taking ‘orders’ to produce cookies for all kinds of occasions and celebrations and the company structure began to take shape. The name combines the unique characteristics of the cookies and the founders… Two Cute Cookies.
We have produced cookies for weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, baptisms, birthday parties, seasonal celebrations and happy occasions of every variety. Our logo cookies have been used to thank clients, advertise products, and promote sales at conventions for pharmaceutical companies and consumer products groups. Our academic institution logos are treasured mementos of campus events, ceremonies and alumnae gatherings and fund raisers.
We have often heard people say, ‘I haven’t met a cookie yet that I didn’t like.’ So we take it one step further and allow our cookie personalities to express a thought or feeling to someone and bring a smile to their face.
